EDUARDO TORRES-DULCE & JUAN BAS
KAFKA AT THE MOVIES
Bizkaia Aretoa · Sala Mitxelena
Kafka reveals himself as a keen spectator of the early days of the cinematograph through his journals and letters. Together with his inseparable Max Brod, he went to cinemas in Prague and Berlin and visited cinemas in other cities during his travels. It is uncertain what he watched and whether these emerging images might have influenced his stories, but there are theories linking ‘The Castle’ with ‘The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari’, and it cannot be ruled out that he attended the premiere of Chaplin’s ‘The Kid’ in his later years. Led by all kinds of clues, film enthusiasts Eduardo Torres-Dulce and Juan Bas offer an amusing speculative game based on a selection of emblematic sequences that Kafka might have seen. They will be screened in front of the audience and commented on in a discussion combining cinema, literature and other cowboy-related topics.
Free admission until full capacity.
