JUAN TALLÓN & BÁRBARA MINGO

KAFKA'S ART

Sala BBK

Arte Kafka

The world of modern art is prone to extravagances, banalities, and excesses that are so absurd that they wouldn’t be out of step in a story written by Kafka. Works like Duchamp’s Urinal or Cattelan’s Banana Glued to the Wall, Yves Klein’s Invisible Exhibition, or the destruction of a Banksy piece as soon as it was sold for a million dollars to be reconverted into ‘Love is in the Bin’. Or the disappearance of a thirty-eight-ton sculpture by Richard Serra, on which Juan Tallón based his novel ‘Obra maestra’. Barbara Mingo has also written about art in ‘Vilnis’ as well as in her press articles. The protagonists of this conversation also agree on their fondness for Kafka, whom they have both turned into characters in some of their stories.
