CONSIDER ME A DREAM
Bizkaia Aretoa · Sala Mitxelena
Ever since that morning when Gregor Samsa awoke from an uneasy dream, it has been common in Kafka’s work to find characters moving in dream-like environments or around beds where the most absurd situations occur. Among the author’s scholars, there is no shortage of those who claim that all his literature can be read as a dream. A nocturnal writer and renowned insomniac, Kafka was always interested in his dream life, which he used to enhance his creativity. Many of his stories are known to have emerged from nightmares or dream states, as evidenced in his letters and journals, where he recorded several of his dreams. From Kafka to Carroll, via Lovecraft or Buñuel, and including some of the works of the main characters in this conversation, Rodrigo Cortés and Andrés Ibáñez will address the exciting subject of dreams in literature and other arts.
