Welcome, earthlings, replicants, Tralfamadorians, time travellers, androids who keep stumbling into humour, happy consumers of soma, and all other more or less intelligent forms of life in the galaxy, to the seventeenth edition of Ja! Festival.<\/p>\n

This year, we have decided to travel into the future. Or perhaps the future has decided to come and visit us. Either way, for a few weeks we will be joined by the finest specimens of the human species to talk about science fiction \u2014 that genre which imagines what is yet to come and helps us better understand what is right in front of us.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Michel Houellebecq<\/strong> returns to the festival sixteen years after taking part in our very first edition, to talk about his passion for science fiction. We will also welcome, for the first time, some of the great writers Rosa Montero, Ray Loriga and Mariana Enriquez. Anna Starobinets, Laura Fern\u00e1ndez, Agust\u00edn Fern\u00e1ndez Mallo, Sara Barquinero, Rodrigo Cort\u00e9s, Fernando Trueba, Maribel Verd\u00fa and Iggy Rub\u00edn<\/strong>, among many others, will complete a crew ready to explore the most unsettling, hilarious and astonishing territories of the future \u2014 and of this increasingly strange present.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_2,1_2″ _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.8″ _module_preset=”default” custom_margin=”||||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Science will play a starring role in this year\u2019s edition, with astronaut Sara Garc\u00eda Alonso<\/strong>, neuroscientist Mariano Sigman<\/strong> and mathematician Eduardo S\u00e1enz de Cabez\u00f3n<\/strong> (\u00d3rbita Laika), among other scientists and science communicators, joining writers and artists to discuss imagination, knowledge, creativity and humour. We will also celebrate the centenary of Rafael Azcona<\/strong>, who never needed to travel to Mars to find aliens: all he had to do was look around.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Hidrogenesse<\/strong> will provide the soundtrack to our very own journey through space. There will also be films, exhibitions, comics, magic, workshops and the podcast \u00bfTe quedas a leer?<\/strong>, produced by El Terrat for PlanetadeLibros, which will be recorded live in front of a festival audience. And a Martian party<\/strong> to bring the mission to a close.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Fasten your seatbelts. Or don\u2019t.
