The author of several novels \u2013 often related to politics, often with biting criticism and satire \u2013 he has published the titles \u2018What a carve up! \u2018, \u2018The Rotters Club\u2019 (\u201cthe most vibrant of the novels about the greyest years\u201d for Rodrigo Fres\u00e1n), \u2018The Closed Circle\u2019, \u2018The Rain Before It Falls\u2019, \u2018The Terrible Privacy of Maxwell Sim\u2019, \u2018Number 11\u2019, \u2018Expo 58\u2019 (\u201cthe novel Graham Greene would have written if he had read more of a powerfully nostalgic Evelyn Waugh\u201d for Laura Fern\u00e1ndez), \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.anagrama-ed.es\/libro\/panorama-de-narrativas\/el-corazon-de-inglaterra\/9788433980502\/PN_1014\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Middle England<\/a>\u2018 and, more recently, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.anagrama-ed.es\/libro\/panorama-de-narrativas\/el-senor-wilder-y-yo\/9788433981097\/PN_1069\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mr Wilder and Me<\/a>\u2018.
