
Alfonso Mateo-Sagasta
(Madrid, 1960), historian and writer, has published numerous short stories and articles, two essays and seven novels, including the trilogy featuring Isidoro Montemayor: Ladrones de tinta (Thieves of Ink), El gabinete de las maravillas (The Cabinet of Wonders) and El reino de los hombres sin amor (The Kingdom of Men Without Love). All three received the Espartaco Prize for Historical Fiction, and the first also won the City of Zaragoza International Prize for Historical Fiction. His other novels include El olor de las especias (The Smell of Spices), Caminarás con el sol (You Will Walk with the Sun), winner of the III Caja Granada Prize for Historical Novels 2011, and Mala hoja (Bad Leaf), published by Reino de Cordelia, the same publisher where his essay La oposición (The Opposition) can be found.
