Welcome to Ja!
International Festival of Literature and Art with Humour
EDITION 2024
10 – 20.10.2024
We join in the commemoration of the centenary of the death of Franz Kafka, the great Czech author who wrote in German his enduring and genuine work, one of the foundations of modern literature.
This 15th festival’s programme will deal with different aspects of Kafka’s figure, work, relationships and impacts, with a special emphasis on humour, a fundamental yet less prominent feature of his literature. In addition, we are organising what will undoubtedly be one of the largest collective exhibitions in Europe in 2024 to commemorate Kafka’s centennial. The exhibition, entitled ‘Kaleidoscope Kafka‘, will explore the life and work of the brilliant Czech author through the eyes of more than twenty artists. Among others, Robert Crumb, Miquel Barceló, Paco Roca, Max, Ana Juan, Fernando Vicente, Tom Gauld, Luis Scafati, Peter Kuper…
Like previous years, the poster for this 2024 edition is the work of graphic artist Javier Jaén. Obviously, this refers to ‘The Metamorphosis’, one of universal literature’s most influential and widely interpreted works.
The final programme for this year’s 2024 edition will be published from mid-September.
