Cristina Fernández Cubas

(Arenys de Mar, Barcelona, 1945) has published six short story books – ‘Mi hermana Elba’, ‘Los altillos de Brumal’, ‘El ángulo del horror’, ‘Con Agatha en Estambul’, ‘Parientes pobres del diablo’ and ‘La habitación de Nona’ (Premio Nacional de Narrativa 2016 and Premio de la Crítica 2015) -, three novels – ‘El año de Gracia’, ‘El columpio’ and ‘La puerta entreabierta’ (under the pen name Fernanda Kubbs) -, a theatre play – ‘Hermanas de sangre’ – and a highly original book of memoirs, ‘Cosas que ya no existen’. Her work has been translated into ten languages. She is considered to be one of the best short story writers in Spanish literature, particularly outstanding in the fantasy genre.
