PETER KUPER Y TARANCÓN

Author of an extensive and renowned body of graphic work, Peter Kuper has created titles such as Oaxaca Diary and New York Diary, as well as adaptations of classics such as Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness. His most special connection is with Franz Kafka, whose Metamorphosis and other stories he has adapted. Several of these originals were included in the retrospective “Kafka Kaleidoscope,” with which Ja! commemorated the Czech writer’s centenary in 2024.

Born in New Jersey in 1958, he has lived in the Big Apple for years, where he collaborates with numerous media outlets. Among them is The New Yorker, a magazine in which he has been a regular contributor for more than three decades. Kuper begins his European tour at Ja! to present his latest comic, Insectopolis (Astiberri), a dazzling journey through 400 million years of insect history narrated from the New York Library. He will discuss this project and the world of comics in general with Fernando Tarancón, Kuper’s editor at Astiberri and bookseller at Joker. The event will also feature other graphic artists, booksellers, and publishers, as well as any fans who wish to join the discussion, until capacity is reached.

English with consecutive translation. Free admission until full capacity is reached. Book signing.

This project has been made possible thanks to the support of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) www.accioncultural.es
