Elia Barceló
(Elda, Alicante, 1957) is a writer and literature professor. She is one of the most versatile authors in Spanish fiction and one of the leading voices in fantasy and science fiction. She has published more than thirty novels and numerous short stories, for both adults and young readers, including El mundo de Yarek, Consecuencias naturales, El efecto Frankenstein and La noche de plata. In 2020, she received the Spanish National Children’s and Young Adult Literature Award for El efecto Frankenstein. She has also written crime fiction, including her Santa Rita series, whose fourth and final instalment, Cita con la muerte, was published in 2025. Her work has been translated into more than twenty languages.
