Reiner Stach
(Rochlitz, Saxony, 1951) Studied mathematics, philosophy and literature at the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main. He has been an editor of scientific and non-fiction books at various German publishing houses. After devoting years to the definitive edition of Kafka’s complete works in Germany, he devoted more than a decade to writing the three volumes of his monumental biography of the Czech writer, considered the ultimate biography: Acantilado published ‘The Early Years’ (1883-1910), ‘The Decisive Years’ (1910-1916), and ‘The Years of Insight’ (1916-1924) in two volumes in 2016. He has also published ‘Is That Kafka? 99 Finds’ and has edited ‘You are the Task’, a book of aphorisms and Kafka’s brief works annotated by Stach.
