Caracas, 1981). He has published the novels The Night, winner of the 3rd Mario Vargas Llosa Biennial Novel Prize, and Simpatía, longlisted for the 2024 International Booker Prize. He is also the author of several short-story collections, including Venecos (2025), and in 2023 he received the O. Henry Prize for his story Los locos de París. His work has been translated into a dozen languages and published in France by Gallimard. He left Venezuela in exile in 2015 and lived in Paris for three years before settling in Málaga, where he currently resides.
