It almost seems like magic how the idea for this exhibition came about. Nevertheless, it makes perfect sense that the first major retrospective of Joaquín Pertierra, an illustrator of international prestige who was presumably born in Bilbao in 1919, should be held in his home city.

Javier Olivares, intimately and creatively connected to him by profession and by his shared collaboration with the writer Fernando Marías, will be the best possible host for this unique opportunity to learn how the project on Pertierra developed, while taking a close look at his work and several of his belongings.
