Bernardo Sánchez
(Logroño, 1961) is a writer, screenwriter and researcher. He holds a PhD in Hispanic Philology and is an associate professor at the University of La Rioja, specialising in the relationship between film and literature. He has published extensively on filmmakers and writers and is one of the leading scholars of Rafael Azcona’s work, on whom he has written books including Rafael Azcona. Otra vuelta en El cochecito, Rafael Azcona. Hablar el guion and Azcona, una versión española. He is also the author of the novels Sombras Saavedra and La semana de Kamamuri and has adapted works for the stage, including El verdugo, for which he received the Max Award in 2001. In 2021, he was nominated for a Goya Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Los europeos, and in 2025 he received the La Rioja Arts and Culture Award.
