Diego San José

(Irún, 1978) He is a film and television scriptwriter specialising in comedy. He began his career writing for the comedy programmes Vaya Semanita, El Intermedio and La noche de José Mota. In 2009 he ventured into cinema for the first time with Borja Cobeaga, with whom he wrote ‘Pagafantas’ and, later, ‘No Controles’ (2011), ‘Ocho apellidos vascos’ (2014), the box-office hit comedy in the history of Spanish cinema, and its sequel, ‘Ocho apellidos catalanes’ (2015); as well as ‘Fe de etarras’ (2017). Also in cinema, he has participated in the screenplays of ‘Tenemos que hablar’ (2016) and ‘Súperlopez’ (2018), a film he was nominated for a Goya for Best Adapted Screenplay. His latest outstanding work is the series ‘Vota Juan’ (2019), and its sequels: ‘Vamos Juan’ (2020) and ‘Venga Juan’ (2021), also directed by him. In 2022, he was a collaborator on the programme ‘Miradas’ by Angels Barceló aired on Cadena Ser.
