Edurne Portela

D. in Hispanic Literature from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (USA). She was a tenured professor of literature at Lehigh University (Pennsylvania) until 2015. In 2016 she published in Galaxia Gutenberg El eco de los disparos: Cultura y memoria de la violencia, an essay that vindicates culture as a tool for settling the past of violence in the Basque Country. In September 2017, Galaxia Gutenberg published his first novel Mejor la ausencia, an investigation into the post-industrial Euskadi of the 1980s. Together with José Ovejero, he made the documentary Vida y ficción (2017). He publishes regularly in the main Spanish newspapers and contributes to several programmes on Radio Nacional de España and Cadena SER.
