Ignacio Echevarría
(Barcelona, 1960) A graduate of Philology from the University of Barcelona, he has worked as a literary editor and cultural critic. Among other projects, he has coordinated the Biblioteca Universal de Círculo de Lectores and the Biblioteca Clásica de la Real Academia Española and has been in charge of the complete works of authors such as Elias Canetti, Franz Kafka, Juan Carlos Onetti, Nicanor Parra and Rafael Sánchez Ferlosio. His work as a critic and columnist has been partially collected in the volumes ‘Trayecto. Un recorrido crítico por la reciente narrativa española’ (Debate, 2005) and ‘Desvíos. Un recorrido crítico por la reciente narrativa latinoamericana’ (Ediciones UDP, 2006). He recently published ‘Una vocación de editor’ (Gris Tormenta, 2020), a brief portrait of his close friend and publisher, Claudio López de Lamadrid. For years, he has been the editor of the ‘Mínima molestia’ of El Cultural and regularly writes for the Revista de Libros of the Chilean newspaper El Mercurio.
