Itziar Lazkano

(Portugalete, Vizcaya, 1957) is an actress and director. She is particularly outstanding for her theatrical work, touring the country with dozens of shows. She has also participated in countless television series, including ‘Vaya semanita’. She began her theatrical career in the late seventies as a member of the Basque independent theatre groups Cómicos de la Legua and Karraka, at the request of Ramón Barea, founder of both. In addition to acting, she promoted and introduced theatre in schools. Her first film venture was ‘El amor de ahora’ (1986), directed by Bilbao-born Ernesto del Río. Since 1995 she has been teaching speech and acting at the Centro de Estudios Musicales y Artes Escénicas and at the Escuela Oficial de Teatro de Basauri.
