Miguel Zugaza

(Durango, Bizkaia, 1964) holds a degree in History of Art from the Complutense University in Madrid. In 1994 he was appointed deputy director of the Reina Sofía National Art Museum where he remained until 1996. Since 2002 he was held the role of the director of the Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao, where he launched a significant modernisation of its activity and infrastructures. In January 2002 he was appointed director of the Prado National Museum, a role that he held until March 2017, when he returned to the director role at the Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao.
