We have been looking forward to Enrique Vila-Matas attending Ja! for a long time. If there is anything that distinguishes the prestigious author, beyond his fascinating metaliterary games and portraits of writers who are writers even though they do not write or have decided to stop doing so, it is a sense of humour that is an inseparable part of his conception of literature.

The importance of humour in Vila-Matas’s work and the incantations within the architecture of his narrative magic will be the subject of an interview conducted by Daniel Gascón, another excellent writer and wordsmith.
