Ramón Barea

(Bilbao, 1949) He is an actor, author and theatre director. He began working in the seventies as a founder and actor in Cómicos de la Legua and Karraka, two independent theatre groups in the Basque Country. Barea also stands out as a playwright and theatre director. He has adapted and performed plays by great playwrights: Chéjov, Valle-Inclán, Fernando Fernán-Gómez or Juan Mayorga. In 2013, he was awarded the National Theatre Prize. He has participated in television series and has appeared in more than a hundred films directed by Julio Médem, Álex de la Iglesia, Imanol Uribe, Juanma Bajo Ulloa and Borja Cobeaga, among others. He has also been a producer and director and is one of the leading promoters of Pabellón 6, the space created in Zorrozaurre for creating and promoting the performing arts.
