The ninth Ja! featured a good line-up of international authors: Mircea Cărtărescu, Jeanette Winterson and David Foenkinos. We were also thrilled that Soledad Puértolas agreed to come (we like all our guests equally; we never wonder who we love more, Mum or Dad). The festival award went to Álex de la Iglesia for a filmography dominated by wild humour over and above political corrections. He was hilariously interviewed in front of the audience by one of his favourite actors, our beloved Carlos Areces, complaining about how badly he was treated (naked and at zero degrees in a forest) during the filming of 'Balada triste de trompeta' (The Last Circus).
